The formation of an Elkhart High
School ALL Alumni Band/Orchestra/Choir is in progress.
The EHS Alumni BOC is in the
process of forming a choir to perform at one of the opening ceremonies of
the
Lerner Performing Arts Center
in Elkhart, Indiana (the old Elco
theatre) in 2011.
The choir should include graduates from
Elkhart High School, Elkhart Central High School, and Elkhart Memorial
High School.
This choir is going to be a serious,
dedicated group and its members need to be able to come to come to most
practices.
We will be singing approximately five
songs including the National Anthem, "Battle Hymn of
the Republic", "Elijah Rock", and "The Lord Bless You and Keep You". The "Battle Hymn
of the Republic" was performed at the final concert of the old Elkhart
High School building in 1972 before the building was torn down, and we ALL
know "The Lord Bless You and Keep You" from the Christmas concerts.
The first two meeting/rehearsals were held at the Willodale Park Pavilion
and we are off to a good start!
The next rehearsal will be Saturday,
August 21 2010 at 10:00AM (to approximately noon) at the
California Road
Missionary Church located 29765
County Road 12 (California Road). It's just a mile west of Memorial
high School on California Road.
The rehearsal schedule for the rest of 2010 follows:
All
rehearsals will be held on the third Saturday of the month for the rest of
2010 at 10:00 AM at the
California Road Missionary Church (unless otherwise noted).

Nancy Lerner, retired accompanist at Elkhart Memorial High School is
accompanying the choir. We are actively pursuing a conductor and
should have one by the August rehearsal.
We
can also use help with planning, advertising, etc., so please let us know
if you'd like to help!

Additional Information: (FYI)
The Mormon Tabernacle Choir Record: The Lords Prayer. This
special one time recording (in 1959) is not available on CD, but
Amazon.com has a CD called The Lords Prayer Collectables for $13.98 with
most of the songs from the original recording.
